Cortland has been designing and manufacturing umbilicals for well intervention applications since the late 1990s. These umbilicals provide a variety of services including hydraulic, chemical electrical, optical or pneumatic. Careful consideration is given to providing the umbilical with the necessary inherent strength, fatigue resistance and robustness to offer long term service life. A planetary lay-up machine and associated equipment enables Cortland to supply long length umbilicals for deepwater operations.
To strengthen umbilicals in the assembly, vectran, aramid braids or high tensile steel wire armour layers can be applied between inner and outer sheaths, depending on specific operational requirements. All of our umbilicals are designed, manufactured and tested according to ISO13628-5 recommendations typically for WOCS, THRT, LV, LS, XT, ICS, LS operations.
A variety of ISO compliant thermoplastic hose types can be included, such as aramid fibre, spiralised wire reinforced or HCR carcassed with Nylon 11 TLO, or fluropolymer liners offering various pressure, temperature and collapse ratings and chemical compatibility for a variety of end use applications. Associated terminations, hose ends, quick connects, cable connectors, MQC, stab-plates and electrical connectors can also be offered as part of Cortland’s scope of supply.
Free issue of Cortland supplied terminations, including armour bodies, flanges, bend stiffeners, restrictors, MQC, stab-plates, QCs and electrical connectors can be offered for fully integrated packages.
All fully integrated packages include free issue of Cortland supplied terminations. All tested, filled and flushed with chosen fluids or chemicals as required. Above all, you can put your trust in Cortland's designs. Verification and qualification testing can be conducted using a range of in-house test rigs and sub contract testing equipment.
