Plasma® 12 Strand is the highest strength synthetic rope available. Plasma® 12 Strand is manufactured from high performance Honeywell Spectra 900 ® Fiber that has been enhanced by Cortland's patented recrystallization process. Plasma® 12 strand is supplied with our standard polyurethane finish, although other coatings can be applied to suit specific applications, and is easily spliced.
Mining Tow Lines
When heavy equipment becomes stuck in the mud and muck, mine productivity goes down. Recovering the vehicle can be a difficult and dangerous process. Plasma® Vehicle Recovery Tow Lines from Cortland replace wire rope through the use of modern high modulus synthetic fibers in a torque-free braided rope construction. These synthetic fiber solutions offer the same strength and elongation characteristics as wire with only 1/7th the weight.
Cortland’s patented Plasma® HMPE (High Modulus PolyEythelene) synthetic fiber has been successfully out-performing and replacing steel wire rope in lifting and towing applications for more than 20 years. Sling strengths are available from 23Te to 425Te. Unlike wire rope, Plasma® will not rust or corrode and has much better bend and tension-tension fatigue. Secure protected factory-splice eye terminations are on each end of the certified and tagged tow sling. All Plasma® Vehicle Recovery Tow Slings conform to ASME and OSHA synthetic fiber sling standards as well as other global certifications such as DNV. Plasma® 12x12
The 12x12 Construction is designed specifically for high modulus, high strength fibers such as Spectra®, Plasma® enhanced Spectra®, BOB® , and Vectran®. This patented construction addresses the most critical properties of the fibers to provide a very high strength translation efficiency for larger ropes. This design allows for long lay lengths, making the rope more flexible for bending applications and rope that is easy to inspect and can be quickly spliced using standard 12 strand splicing techniques. Plasma® 12x12 is a 12-strand single braided rope in which each of the 12 strands is, in turn, a 12-strand rope, or braided primary strand. Plasma® 12x12 is supplied with our standard polyurethane finish, although other coatings can be applied to suit specific applications.
