Cortland offers cables for wide tow multiple streamer data acquisition applications, which demand high tow strength, minimum cable diameter, and minimum weight. Cables consist of a range of single or grouped electrical cores and fibre optics. Our designs offer the most compact electrical and fibre optic assembly diameters and can be offered with either synthetic fibre strength member or steel wire armour packages to achieve the highest strength, smallest flexible cable on the market. These variants can be produced in long continuous lengths.
Customer specific cable and mechanical armour terminations can be provided as part of Cortland’s scope.
Cortland can apply fairings as a solution to the adverse effects of strumming / vibration which can be set up as the cables are towed through the water behind surface vessels. Fairings are generally applied as braid with extensions along two or more axes of the cable formed by weaving a filament yarn about one or more insulated conductors with the yarn serving to anchor the conductors on the cable and extending outwardly to form fairing hairs. Generally the braid material is polyester although other materials and variants can be offered. Solid fairings or customer free issued fairings can be fitted if required.
Finalized packages include full testing in accordance with industry standards.
