Our expertise in the use of high performance synthetic fibers hails back to the introduction of PRD 49, or Kevlar® as it later became known, more than 30 years ago. Cortland remains at the forefront in the use of high performance synthetic fibers and is a proven partner in utilizing these materials combined with proprietary braiding and assembly technology, for new applications.
Our medical textile solutions utilize yarns produced from novel polymers as well as known fibers currently used in the medical device markets. We frequently work with:
- Dyneema Purity® - Cortland is a preferred partner to DSM Biomedical
- Polyester (PET)
- Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
- Metallic wires
Cortland engineers work collectively with customers to aid in the selection of materials that will provide long-term performance for the particular application. Materials that Cortland uses may be customer-supplied or sourced by us.
